“I hiked along Mission Peak’s trails one day and I looked back once in a while—as much as the steep road ahead of me permitted for they were escalating at high patterns. Half an hour passed and the houses that were still the most visible were some of the nicest ones around Fremont. They were houses that are probably large enough to shelter three generations of a family and garages wide enough to snugly store a handful of cars. I smiled a bit regardless of the small beads of sweat on my forehead that were starting to form. These were the types of houses my parents told me to aim for; they told me to vouch for them. These houses are their dreams that they patiently yearn for. And, although it has become a goal of mine as well—simply to give my parents happiness and to spoil them—I found myself thinking that the best house in Fremont would not do at all if you wouldn’t be in there with me passing the lazy days away in bed.”
