Sleeping with you.

Sleeping with you as become my own personal valium. The feeling your body heat against mine always leaves me in repose, as we wrap ourselves under the blankets, and the curves of our bodies fitting perfectly against each other like puzzle pieces . our limbs all tangled up, my head upon your chest, as it rises and falls in rhythm to your breathing. The sound of your heartbeat would echo in my ear, the waves travelling through my nerves as it matches the sound of my own.

Sometimes, I would wake up and find you looking at me in deep reverie, wearing that cute grin of yours that I love the most. The one where your nose all scrunched up along with one side of your mouth. Other times, I’d find you in deep slumber, in your most peaceful, innocent and vulnerable state, with your slow breathing dancing upon my cheek. I try to snuggle closer, positioning myself to fill up the space between us. As I slowly fall back to sleep, I would feel your arms tighten around my waist, and an unexpected kiss on my cheek, on my forehead, on my lips.

& when the time comes for me to leave, you would wake me up by nibbling my lip or giving me a rain of kisses to bring me back to consciousness. As I open my eyes to your familiar presence, I’d find myself staring into those beautiful pools of hazel, your lips quavering the words ‘Wakey wakey beautiful.’

The last few seconds of embrace is always the hardest for me. Being in your arms always makes me feel infinite, with our own ‘heaven-on-earth’ unbounded by the complications of our reality. & everytime I release myself from your comfortable hold, I am suddenly thrust back down to earth, back into my ruthless reality.

So let me just stay in your arms for just a little bit more. Because that moment, everything in my life is fine, more than fine. Everything is perfect. Because I love you and you love me, and it doesn’t get any better than that.
