You are the one I can count on to understand me when I feel as though there is no one in the world who I can talk to… except you. You and I understand each other on a completely different level. Everyone is on one plane of thought while we rest slightly above and to the side in our little corner of the universe. I love it when you say something that no one else understands, but you’ll look to me and say “You understood that, right?” Because of course I did; of course I understand you. You don’t even need to speak. Just look, and I’ll know. I’ll know your ocean eyes with their dark rims and everything will make sense. When it comes to you, to us, sometimes we don’t even need words.

I’m sorry if I get jealous sometimes. I really try not to, but I just see it all as competition. I never want to lose you, and I’m afraid that one day someone will actually take you away from me. You’ve told me that you don’t have a problem leaving things behind… well what if it was me? Could you really do it? What if leaving me behind meant that I died? Would you cry for me? Would you regret not loving me more than you already do? In a different way than you already do? Would you ever get over me, get over us? I don’t know if I could ever get over you.

People have asked you why we don’t just date already. We understand each other so well and we spend a lot of time together, so why don’t we? I don’t know. I’m scared to ruin something that is such a big part of my life. I’m scared to push too hard for something I want, only to lose it all in the process. But as far as I know, as long of a list as I can write, as many criteria that I can spill on paper, you pretty much fill the description. We’re best friends. Why wouldn’t I love you, too?

I want you to be there for me forever. I want to be there for you forever.

I want there to be a forever for us.

Hopefully I’m not wishing too hard or being too idealistic. Hopefully you’ll come around and see everything in me that I see in you. Hopefully we’ll fall more in love than anyone in the whole wide world. Hopefully one day you’ll love me the way I love you.
