Don’t keep your loved ones too close. Allow for fresh air to dance between you. Fly away on your own once in a while and then come back to the nest you have built in your lover’s heart. Live in harmony, not in bondage. Love is not about becoming a dominant force in someone’s life. Love is about…
The sun was trickling through the window after an entire morning of love making. Our faces glowing with the after-effects of ecstasy.
She hastily sat up with a sudden urge to ask me something. Her fingers intertwined with mine and I looked upon her beautiful brown eyes expectantly. She asked “How much do you love me?”
I slowly gazed upon her divinely shaped body and her heavenly face. “How much do I love you? If I count the freckles throughout your body, that would be how much I love you.”
And so I counted for twenty minutes and the number was exactly a hundred and forty-two.
I kissed her on the forehead and tenderly whispered “A hundred and forty-two, that is how much I love you.”
Eyes Wide Open - Gotye
For the special woman in my heart:
My eyes are finally wide open and I can see that you’re the only one for me. I’m abandoning past lovers who have lingered for far too long. I’m moving on with you into the unknown. Except I’m not afraid of not knowing what is going to happen, because I know whatever we do and whatever we become, it will be a worthy life-transforming experience. You bring a comfort to my life that I never had before. With you, the waters are calm and continually flowing. I never had to chase you, nor convince you, nor seduce you. We just naturally gravitated towards each other as if ordained by scientific fact. The universe keeps bringing us together in creative ways, sending little signs of how we are meant to be. I always sought to feel completely at peace with someone because I never cared for the roller coaster of emotions that exists in the realm of romantic movies. Conflict is not my thing, I don’t care for it nor seek it. And now I have you, my true embodiment of zen. I only want to focus on you, and you alone. Because, unlike with most women in my life, you enthrall me to no end. My eyes are wide open and I can see that our story is not a cliche forgettable Hollywood love story; which involves crying, desperate declarations of love, heartbreak, and heart-mending. Our story is quite the opposite, it’s actually a light-hearted Shakespearean comedy, which from the beginning to end, no matter what happens, it is the funnest and most profound time of our lives.
“We’re all in the same boat staying afloat for the moment.”
All men fear death. It’s a natural fear that consumes us all. We fear death because we feel that we haven’t loved well enough or loved at all, which ultimately are one in the same. However, when you make love with a truly great woman, one that deserve the utmost respect in this world and one that makes you feel truly powerful, that fear of death completely disappears. Because when you are sharing your body and heart with a great woman the world fades away. You two are the only ones in the entire universe. You conquer what most lesser men have never conquered before, you have conquered a great woman’s heart, the most vulnerable thing she can offer to another. Death no longer lingers in the mind. Fear no longer clouds your heart. Only passion for living, and for loving, become your sole reality. This is no easy task for it takes insurmountable courage. But remember this, for that moment when you are making love with a woman of true greatness you will feel immortal.
Inspired from a monologue in Midnight in Paris.
There is only way to love a woman. It’s by living in the moment. Nothing else matters. It doesn’t matter whether you are her first, or her last, or anything in between. When you are with her, you are with her alone. Accept her imperfections for that is where her beauty lies, we are all human after-all. If she makes you laugh and feel liberated, hold onto her. She may not be thinking about you every waking second, she may not always be right by your side. But know this, that she trusts you with the most vulnerable thing she can offer to another - her heart. So never hurt her or try to change her, love for who she is. Tell her the happiness she stirs inside of you, tell her when she makes you mad, be honest with her, let her know when you miss her, and most importantly treat her like a woman. She doesn’t need to be catered to, put on pedestal, or undermined, or pushed around. She is your everything, doesn’t matter what may or may not happen in the future, you are here and right now with her. Love her the most you can at this very moment, nothing else is important.
This is my rendition on Bob Marley’s quote on how to love a woman.
